SPP
Technical Section

The Technical Section consists of individual and corporate members. The Section’s membership is available to any natural person who is the SPP member, mainly:

  1. engineers and technicians employed in the paper industry or working for the industry
  2. others graduated from secondary schools or universities, provided they are employed in the paper industry or work for the industry
  3. persons whose professional achievements justify their acceptance as the Association’s members
  4. students of papermaking and related fields
  5. retired people, formerly employed in institutions connected with the paper industry

A corporate member may be a juridical or natural person interested in realization of the Association’s objectives and financially supporting them.

In 2005 the Technical Section consisted of 293 individual and 43 corporate members.

Section’s activities encompass:

  • attracting new individual and corporate members
  • publishing calendar containing profiles of companies providing services to the paper industry
  • publishing the supplement to:
    • The English – Polish Dictionary of Papermaking
    • The Polish Paper Review published by the SIGMA-NOT Publishing House
    • The SPP Bulletin
    • information dissemination through the Internet (http://www.spp.pl)
  • the problem committees
    • preparation of papermaker’s biographies to “the Dictionary of Polish Technicians” collection of information on the history of paper mills located on the territory of Poland
    • preservation of association traditions, integration of papermakers through organization of technical meetings and occasional events
    • attracting new specialists to the Expert’s Group
  • co-operation with foreign partners from TAPPI, PPTAC, PITA, FPEA, SPCI, ZELLCHEMING, ATIP, IPH
  • co-operation with FSNT-NOT (the Federation of Scientific and Technical Association of the Chief Technical Organization), scientific and technical organizations, local governmental institutions
  • organization of the PROGRESS0’05 Conference
  • training services (according to demands)
  • consulting services by the SPP Group pf Experts

The Section’s objectives are achieved by:

  • initiation of activities to support the development of papermaking sector,
  • organization of congresses, conferences, symposia, seminars, courses, exhibitions, displays, lectures,
  • co-operation with domestic and foreign paper industry organizations and technical associations,
  • technical, economic, trade, organizational and legal consulting services
  • publishing periodicals and training materials.

The above mentioned objectives are realized through the following units:

  • Clubs and circles grouping members according to their place of residence or interests
  • The Membership Committee
  • The Historical Committee
  • The Publishing Committee
  • The Board of the Experts’ Group
  • The Advisory Committee of the Polish Paper Review
  • Other committees

A current supervision over the Section’s activities is held by the Technical Board chaired by the SPP Deputy Chairman responsible for Technical Affairs. The Board consists of chairmen of all Section’s organizational units.

The Section’s funds come from individual and corporate membership fees as well as economic and financial activity of the SPP.
